The Amherst Skating Club is a United States Figure Skating (USFS) club with 120 amateur skaters, both young and adult, and 215 non-skating adult members including parents, coaches and judges. Our home ice is the Amherst Pepsi Center; a four-rink facility located on Amherst Manor Drive in Amherst, New York, a suburb of Buffalo. NEW! Amherst Skating Club Wins Presidents Trophy


The 30th Biennial Niagara Invitational Competition was held earlier this month at Buffalo State College Sports Arena. The event took place April 4th - 6th and skating clubs from all over Western NY and Canada participated. Amherst Skating Club’s Open Juvenile Synchronized skating team “sweet icings’ participated as well as the Three Amigos (Mya Cappellino, Colette Deppe, Jennifer Tzetzo) who took home the gold in PrePreliminary Team Compulsory Moves. This Invitational featured Free skating, Compulsory, Team and Showcase events from tots to Adult. Amherst Skating Club won the Niagara Invitational Presidents Club Trophy, by having the greatest amount of ‘wins’ during the 3 day competition. See full results.

 Jocelyn Delmar at Adult Eastern Sectionals 2008


Jocelyn Delmar competed in Adult Eastern Sectionals 2008, held in New Jersey this past weekend. She placed 2nd in Silver Ladies 1 (non-qualifying). She will be competing at Adult Nationals in Lake Placid on April 9 in Silver Ladies 1. Congratulations Jocelyn!

The AMHERST SKATING CLUB sponsored an Exhibition for the above skaters on February 19, 2008. These members of the Amherst Skating Club competed in the 28th Empire State Winter Games on FEBRUARY 22-24, 2008 in beautiful LAKE PLACID, NY nearly 200 figure skaters from all over New York converged in Lake Placid to compete for their region. The Empire State Winter Games is an amateur athletic event for New York Residents, conducted by New York State Parks, with the support of The New York Lottery and The Olympic Regional Development Authority. Opening Ceremonies was held in the Herb Brooks Arena in the Olympic Center, where the parade of athletes were introduced by their sport and marched under their markers wearing the official complimentary ESG's jumpsuits and hat.

Besides Figure Skating, other events include: Alpine Skiing, Biathlon (shooting, skiing, interval jump, relay), Bobsled / Skeleton, Cross Country Skiing, Figure Skating, ice Hockey (womens), Luge, Ski Jumping, Ski Orienteering, Speed Skating, Snowshoe racing.

Chill Out Fest: sponsored by the NYS lottery sponsored an outdoor party on Saturday night with free give-aways, hot food tent, 14 piece band and fireworks. ASC skaters enjoyed dancing in the snow to the 'Refrigerators', shooting pucks and entering contests. The 10º weather did not slow them down.

Lindsay Lessard* (Bronze Medal Open Senior Ladies), Brooke Sinatra (Bronze Medal Intermediate Ladies), Alyssa Penizotto and Taylor Aquino (Gold Medal Similar Pairs) placements qualified them to enter The 2009 State Games of America which will be held July 30 to August 2 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The State Games of America has previously been held in St. Louis, Missouri (1999, 2001), Hartford, Connecticut (2003) and Colorado Springs, Colorado (2005, 2007). The State Games concept was developed in New York in 1978 with the Empire State Games. In 2006, more than 500,000 athletes competed in one of 49 State Games nationwide. State Games feature various sports of the Olympic and Pan American Games as well as sports with regional popularity within each state.
