Shining Stars

The Shining Stars program runs under the same schedule and policies as our Learn to Skate / Skate With US program. Please refer to the Learn to Skate page for the current appliation, schedule and so forth.

What is offered each season may vary depending on availability.

Shining Stars
An introduction to competitve figure skating.

The Amherst Skating Club is pleased to announce it's newest program. This program is a special introduction to club skating and offers skaters of all levels an opportunity to explore different aspects of figure skating from a variety of club professionals.

Topics Covered will include:
- Introduction to beginning and advanced skating skills.
- Jumps and spins.
- Introduction to the first US Figure Skating test (Pre-Preliminary Moves In the Field).
- Creative Movement.
- Synchronized Skating.
- Upper level skaters demonstrations.

The program includes:
- 50 to 60 minutes of group lessons.
- Professional Coaches.
- Progress report halfway through the season.

Why join: This program will give you a solid foundation on which to build your skating skills and offers the opportunity to progress more quickly by offering small groups and longer lesson time. Graduates of this program will be eligible for discounted Amherst Skating Club membership fee, one free ice card (2 hours of club ice) and the test fee will be waived for your first USFS test at ASC.
