Volunteer Committee Information

It should be noted that the Amherst Skating Club has only 1 paid employee: a part-time Office Manager (Coni Majchrowicz).

Every other task must be performed by volunteers.

Please consider joining us, in whatever capacity you are comfortable in. Amherst Skating Club is a CLUB, not a service.

There is a spot for everyone! We need you!

The following is a list and brief description of the many volunteer committees at ASC. Although some of the committees already have Chairpersons named, we need people to assist the Chairpersons. To volunteer, click the link shown below to download the Volunteer Sign-Up Form and return the completed form to the ASC office.

Archivist: (chairperson needed)

Collect photos, newspaper articles, and club history. Put info into scrapbooks.

Order awards and engraving of plaques, presents awards during competitons.

Clothing Sales: Kolette Piasecki kolette@knpvisa.com

Order ASC club logo apparel for resale to members.

Education Committee: Johanna Calvert jcalvert@roadrunner.com and Stefani Goddard rumbalo@att.net

Share figure skating knowledge and inform club members of rules, etiquette and new information in the skating world.

Election Committee: Dawn Cerra, Paul Deppe, Mike Riegel

Collect nominations for Board and Jr. Board candidates, send out flyers, tally votes, publish results.

Finance Committee: (chairperson & committee members needed)

Provide oversight and council to ASC treasurer and ASC Board.

Fundraising Committee: (chairperson needed)

Organize activities to generate funds for events and/or skater support.

Hospitality Committee: (chairperson & committee members needed)

Order and set up food/drink for test sessions and Amherst Invitational.

Meet with Pepsi Center administration to set up ice schedule for all ASC ice.

Junior Board Advisor: Val White vwhite@adelphia.net

Advise Junior Board and guide activities such as: Holiday Party, Skate Sale and fundraising events.

Maintain ASC membership roster for USFS.

Monitor Chair: Jo Ann D'Amato lovmykidz@verizon.net

Schedule and train ice monitors for every session.

Newsletter Committee: (chairperson & committee members needed)

Write and print quarterly ASC newsletter.

Off-Ice Training: Sharon Palisano spalisano@adelphia.net

Coordinate off-ice workouts with Proformance Sports for ASC group classes.

Professional Liaison: Jill Gordon JAAMKCjill@adelphia.net

Inform ASC coaches of administrative changes, ice schedule changes and club business. Collect coach information for website and ASC publication. Prepare, distribute and collect all coach-related paperwork for ASC. When necessary, provide mediation between coaches and ASC families.

Synchro Liaison: Dawn Cerra

Distribute information from Synchro coaches to Synchro families. Inform ASC Board of Synchro coach's decisions & competition choices.

Provide information to local media re: competitions, shows, and advertising.

Skate With US Director: TBD info@amherstskatingclub.org

Volunteers needed to assist Director with program, support and planning.

Spring Ice Show Committee (May 2009): (chairperson & committee members needed)

Show Chairs organize committees to run this event. Committees: Decorations, Announcing, Convening, Program Book, Skater Registration, etc.

Assist Test Chair prior to or during test sessions.
